1. Who to contact
PLEY is an educational quiz service at pley.fun. For privacy questions, corrections or deletion requests, contact the PLEY administrator at pley.admin@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
- Sign-in information. When you choose Google sign-in, Supabase Auth receives your Google account identifier, email address and basic profile information, such as your name and profile picture when provided. When you choose ChatGPT sign-in, PLEY receives your authenticated account identifier, email and available name.
- Your PLEY profile. We store your username, selected avatar, class and any date of birth you choose to provide. Please do not put sensitive personal information in your username or questions.
- Quiz activity. This includes hosted or joined rooms, question banks, submitted answers, response times, scores, rankings, game history, reports, saved knowledge-chip awards and levels, and join, leave or quiz-integrity events.
- Technical information. Our hosting and service providers may process IP addresses, browser or device information, request timestamps, errors and security logs to deliver and protect the service.
- Support messages. If you email us, we receive the information you include in your message.
3. How we use information
We use this information to authenticate players, maintain profiles, create and run quizzes, save answers, calculate results, provide host reports, restore sessions, investigate errors and misuse, and respond to support requests. Quiz-integrity features can record when the quiz page becomes hidden; hosts may review relevant events. PLEY does not inspect the contents of other websites or applications.
4. Google account data
Google sign-in is used to identify your account and provide PLEY’s account, profile and quiz-history features. The requested Google permissions are limited to basic identity, email and profile information. PLEY does not request access to Gmail messages, Google Drive files, contacts or calendars.
We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. Access is limited to providing, maintaining and securing the service, handling support at your request, or meeting applicable legal requirements. PLEY’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements where applicable.
5. Who can see quiz information
A room’s host can see participant names, answer counts and game results, including answer choices and question-level performance after answers are revealed. Other participants may see your display name, avatar, chip balance, rank and game status. Avoid sharing room codes or host access links outside your intended group.
We use service providers to run PLEY: Supabase for authentication and multiplayer game services, and OpenAI Sites and its hosting infrastructure, including Cloudflare, for serving the app, account features, storage and operational logs. Google and OpenAI also process information when you use their respective sign-in services. Information may be processed outside your country; the multiplayer Supabase project is currently hosted in the Sydney region.
Information may also be disclosed when required by law or reasonably necessary to investigate abuse and protect users or the service. We do not sell your personal information.
6. Cookies and browser storage
PLEY uses authentication cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember room access and settings, and maintain a temporary guest session. Authentication cookies are used for account access; room access tokens are also stored on your device. Optional installation as a web app may cache public assets for faster loading. Clearing browser data can remove saved room access.
Guest mode does not create a saved PLEY account profile or personal game-history page. Guest display names and gameplay records can still be stored in the room and its host’s report after the guest leaves or closes the browser.
7. Question generation and external links
PLEY can help you copy a quiz prompt and open ChatGPT. Automatic question generation is not currently connected inside PLEY. If you paste information into ChatGPT or another external service, that service’s own privacy terms apply. Questions you import back into PLEY are stored as part of your quizzes or rooms.
8. Storage, security and retention
Account profiles, saved quizzes, game records and reports are retained to support the service and game history. There is currently no fixed automatic deletion schedule for these records. You can request deletion by email. Security logs and backups may have separate provider retention periods; limited information may need to be retained for security, dispute handling or legal obligations.
We use HTTPS, authenticated account checks and access controls to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Keep your sign-in account, device and host access links secure.
9. Your choices and requests
You can edit available profile details in Account Settings, join as a guest, sign out, or stop using PLEY. You may remove PLEY’s access through your Google Account’s third-party connections settings. Revoking Google access does not automatically delete information already stored in PLEY.
To request access, correction or deletion of your PLEY account and associated information, email pley.admin@gmail.com from the email used to sign in. For a guest record, provide the room code and display name. We may need to verify that a request relates to you. Deleting an account may affect saved quizzes, reports and room access; copies already exported by a host are outside PLEY’s control.
10. Students and children
Teachers and parents should supervise student use as appropriate and obtain permissions required for their classroom and location. Do not submit another student’s personal information without appropriate permission. If you believe a child’s information was provided without required permission, contact us so we can investigate and address it.
11. Changes to this policy
We will update this page and its effective date when practices change. Material changes to the use of Google account data will be disclosed, and additional consent requested where required, before that new use begins.
